About Favor International

Favor International is a faith-based ministry that has spent more than twenty years carrying the Gospel into some of the hardest places on earth. We work in Chad, South Sudan, and Uganda, and our work is entirely indigenous-led. Every pastor, teacher, and community leader in our network is African. We go where others don’t.

Our work spans evangelism and discipleship, education, community development, and economic empowerment. Behind every number is a real person whose life has changed. Telling those stories well is how more people come alongside the work.

We are growing our U.S. Development team and looking for a strategic, experienced Director of Development to lead our regional fundraising operation. If you have a heart for God, a talent for building high-performing teams, and a passion for major gift fundraising, we want to hear from you.

Why this role exists

The Director of Development exists to provide strategic leadership and accountability across Favor International’s U.S. fundraising functions, ensuring that our teams work together effectively to achieve organizational revenue and relationship-development goals.

Working closely with the Executive Director and organizational leadership, the Director of Development helps establish fundraising priorities, revenue goals, staffing strategies, and long-term development plans that provide the resources necessary to advance Favor International’s mission in Africa.

What you will do

Development leadership and management

  • Provide leadership, strategic direction, management, and accountability across assigned U.S. fundraising departments, including Regional Development and Church Engagement.
  • Directly supervise, coach, and evaluate fundraising leaders and team members within assigned departments.
  • Establish clear departmental and individual expectations, revenue goals, activity metrics, and performance standards.
  • Conduct regular meetings and one-on-one reviews with direct reports to evaluate progress toward goals, address obstacles, strengthen performance, and identify opportunities.
  • Develop the leadership and fundraising capabilities of team members through coaching, training, mentoring, and professional development.
  • Manage performance issues and corrective action plans in partnership with Human Resources.
  • Foster a collaborative, mission-driven culture characterized by excellence, accountability, stewardship, communication, and shared responsibility for organizational fundraising goals.
  • Ensure that fundraising departments collaborate effectively rather than operating in silos.

Fundraising strategy and revenue growth

  • Develop and oversee comprehensive fundraising strategies for the departments under the Director’s leadership in alignment with Favor International’s organizational priorities and annual funding needs.
  • Translate organizational revenue goals into clear departmental strategies, targets, benchmarks, and action plans.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of existing fundraising channels and recommend changes, investments, staffing, or new approaches where appropriate.
  • Identify opportunities to expand Favor’s donor base, church relationships, major-gift pipeline, geographic reach, and overall fundraising capacity.
  • Ensure appropriate strategies are in place for donor acquisition, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, retention, and upgrading across relevant fundraising channels.
  • Work with fundraising teams to develop strong pipelines of prospective individual donors, churches, and strategic partners.
  • Identify gaps or underperformance within fundraising departments and develop corrective strategies to improve results.
  • Provide leadership with informed recommendations regarding fundraising opportunities, risks, investments, and priorities.

Personal major-gift portfolio and new partner development

  • Maintain and actively manage a personal portfolio of major-gift partners and prospective partners, with established annual revenue and relationship-development goals.
  • Proactively identify and qualify new major-gift prospects through research, networking, referrals, events, existing relationships, and other prospect-development strategies.
  • Personally cultivate, solicit, close, and steward major gifts in support of Favor International’s mission and funding priorities.
  • Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of prospective major-gift partners, moving relationships strategically from identification and qualification through cultivation, solicitation, commitment, and long-term stewardship.
  • Conduct regular face-to-face meetings, calls, presentations, and other meaningful interactions with current and prospective partners.
  • Develop individualized engagement and solicitation strategies for high-capacity prospects and partners within the Director’s portfolio.
  • Meet or exceed established annual personal fundraising goals in addition to being accountable for the performance and revenue goals of the fundraising departments under the Director’s leadership.
  • Leverage personal and professional networks to expand Favor International’s reach and introduce new individuals, families, business leaders, and other potential partners to the ministry.
  • Model excellent major-gift fundraising practices for the Development team by personally demonstrating effective prospecting, relationship building, solicitation, stewardship, and moves management.

Regional Development oversight

  • Provide strategic leadership and management to Favor International’s Regional Development Directors and other fundraising teams.
  • Establish and monitor individual and team revenue goals, portfolio expectations, donor activity, solicitations, and other key performance indicators.
  • Review regional work plans, donor pipelines, portfolio health, moves management, and fundraising performance.
  • Identify underperforming territories or portfolios and implement strategies to strengthen results.
  • Evaluate donor assignments, territory design, staffing, and coverage as Favor International grows.
  • Join Regional Development Directors on strategic donor visits and solicitations when appropriate.

Church Engagement oversight

  • Provide strategic leadership and management to Favor International’s Church Engagement Directors.
  • Establish clear goals and performance expectations for church prospecting, relationship development, engagement, stewardship, and revenue.
  • Develop strategies to increase the number, depth, and long-term value of Favor International’s church partnerships.
  • Monitor church engagement pipelines and ensure consistent movement from initial contact through relationship development, partnership, and ongoing stewardship.
  • Identify opportunities to deepen church relationships through missions engagement, speaking opportunities, events, campaigns, and other appropriate ministry connections.
  • Promote coordination between Church Engagement and Regional Development where donor and church relationships intersect.
  • Evaluate geographic coverage, staffing needs, and opportunities for expansion of Favor’s church engagement efforts.

Planning, forecasting, and performance management

  • Partner with the Executive Director and organizational leadership to establish annual fundraising goals and longer-term development objectives.
  • Develop annual departmental plans and measurable benchmarks for each fundraising function under the Director’s leadership.
  • Monitor performance against goals throughout the year and initiate corrective strategies when results fall behind projections.
  • Develop reliable revenue forecasts based on pipeline activity, historical performance, current fundraising trends, and team projections.
  • Evaluate fundraising performance at both the departmental and organizational level to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and areas requiring leadership attention.
  • Lead regular development planning and performance meetings.
  • Recommend staffing structures, territory changes, resource allocation, and other investments necessary to achieve fundraising goals.

Data, systems, and reporting

  • Ensure consistent use of Favor International’s CRM and fundraising systems across all supervised development departments.
  • Establish expectations for timely and accurate documentation of donor, prospect, church, and partner activity.
  • Monitor data quality, pipeline reporting, moves management, and reporting compliance.
  • Partner with appropriate support and technology staff to improve fundraising systems, reporting, and processes.
  • Develop and deliver clear, consolidated fundraising reports and forecasts to the Executive Director and organizational leadership.
  • Use fundraising data to inform strategy, measure effectiveness, and drive decision-making.

Cross-departmental collaboration

  • Work closely with Marketing, Partner Care, Missions, Communications, Finance, and other departments whose work intersects with fundraising and partner engagement.
  • Ensure fundraising teams have the stories, materials, information, campaigns, and organizational resources necessary to engage partners effectively.
  • Coordinate development priorities with organizational communications and marketing initiatives.
  • Help create clear pathways for relationships to move appropriately between fundraising channels and departments.
  • Represent the Development function in organizational planning and leadership discussions.

Donor, church, and organizational representation

  • Participate in significant donor and church meetings, presentations, solicitations, and stewardship opportunities.
  • Support fundraising team members in complex or high-capacity relationships.
  • Represent Favor International at donor gatherings, church meetings, conferences, national events, and board-level meetings as required.
  • Serve as a senior representative of Favor International who can communicate the organization’s mission, impact, funding priorities, and Christian identity with clarity and conviction.

Performance metrics

Performance in this role will be evaluated based on both fundraising results and the Director’s effectiveness in building and leading a strong development operation. Metrics may include:
