Transforming communities

The whole community, transformed.

Favor's community development model has been informed by almost 20 years of work and recognizes the church as the hub of the community and the Word of God as the center of sustainable, ongoing community development.

Full community development includes a crusade, discipleship, trauma healing, a Portable Bible School, a church building, women's empowerment, a village learning center, a well, and mobile medical clinics. It starts with transformed lives surrendered to Jesus and extends to holistic transformation of the entire community.

We could comfort those in emotional pain, bandage every wound, build beautiful buildings, and pass out thousands of Bibles—but if not one heart is baptized in the love of Christ, then we have not accomplished what we came to do.

Our foremost mission is guiding hearts to Jesus while demonstrating God's love by meeting people emotionally, physically, and spiritually, as Jesus did.

Trauma counseling

Healing the whole person.

Our trauma healing program has two parts. The first section focuses on developing emotional strength, and the second teaches about forgiveness. Throughout the program, the counselors teach people how to connect to one another and counter stress with positive activity.

The original Trauma Counseling curriculum that we use was written by Christ-believing psychologists from Australia, peer-reviewed through publications at Boston University, and for many years has been adapted and contextualized for the many people groups we serve throughout South Sudan and Uganda.
