The Sahel desert belt.
Favor trains indigenous missionaries to carry the Gospel along the Sahel, the belt of nations stretching across Africa’s desert edge.
The Sahel is the dry belt between the Sahara and the savanna. Favor’s work centers in Chad, a gateway nation on that belt, where Arabic-speaking believers are trained and sent into villages that have never had a church.
Carole Ward led a Favor team to Chad to register the work and to open a missionary training school for believers that local churches already recognize as called. The aim is to reach unreached people groups in the north before violent groups get there first.
Public pages name Uganda, South Sudan, and Chad as the nations where the work is centered. Other fields along the belt are served through indigenous leaders and are described here as restricted nations when naming them would put people at risk.
Portable Bible Schools, trauma counseling, and church planting move with those leaders. The method is the same as in Uganda and South Sudan: prayer first, then discipleship that stays when the visiting team leaves.
