Trauma healing.

Favor’s trauma counseling helps communities recover from war, raids, and displacement, then opens the door to the Gospel.

Favor’s trauma healing program has two parts. The first develops emotional strength. The second teaches forgiveness. Counselors show people how to connect to one another and counter stress with honest conversation and the Word of God.

The curriculum was written by Christ-believing psychologists from Australia, peer-reviewed through publications at Boston University, and adapted for the people groups Favor serves in South Sudan and Uganda. By the end of the first week, participants meet the Great Forgiver.

South Sudan’s Minister of the Interior asked Favor to bring the training, saying the nation was traumatized, himself included. Teams have taken counseling to generals, government offices, police, radio, universities, and villages recovering from raids.

Once people finish the two-week process they are often ready to receive Jesus, and a two-month Portable Bible School follows. Healing is how a war-torn community becomes able to hear.
